July 2017 marks the bicentenary of Jane Austen’s death; over the following year, Georgian lady antiquary Mrs Leach will commemorate the anniversary with talks, walks and workshops that explore late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century society and culture.

For the Festival of Archaeology, she is holding an open day: drop in to see a selection of ‘Austen Age’ artefacts and other sources, and try your hand at archaeological activities – or just revel in Regency remains!

Presented by archaeologist Dr Kirsten Jarrett, who has taught for the WEA, and Continuing Education Departments at the University of Nottingham, Keele University, and University of Oxford; and representing the Community Projects that she directs.
